Kogi Council Election:The Imposition Of Candidates On The Polity Is Unhealthy-Concern APC Youth
Some youth under the auspices of Concern APC Youth in Kogi State have warned the leadership of the party to desist from the idea of imposing a candidate at the forthcoming primary of the party.
The group also warned that imposition of candidate would spell doom for the party in the state. While observing that When imposition prevails, it will continue to scare credible people from coming into politics. This being the problem, there will be lack of quality participants in the political space. When the best are not in the arena, the quality of governance is deplorable.
“Democracy is a triumph within a competitive system. It improves the quality of itself, using competition and certification as the quality to achieve that level of governance model that can attain egalitarianism in this country”.
“Imposition of candidates by political parties is to say the least unhealthy for the polity. It is undemocratic and it should be resisted by all”.
They equally alleged that some despirate commissioner and appointees are hell bent on convincing His Excellency to adopt their prefered candidates as they believe it will avail them the opportunity to build a structure for themselves because of their 2023 ambitions.
“Four years of a caretaker officer in the local government is enough and it is good that the people are allowed to choose who lead them”
The group, Concern APC Youths, however congratulates His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello over his recent Supreme Court Victory and further re-assured His Excellency of their support towards the actualisation of his dream Kogi state
